Are you quilting along this year on our row quilt project? If so, you’ve made Simple Windmills, Hearts, Nine Patches, Plus Signs, Economy Blocks, and Framed Four Patches. If not, please join the fun! Blocks are quick and easy to make. You’ll find instructions under the “Rows Parade BOM 2023” tab in the blog menu.
I’ve chosen Flying Geese as the blocks for both July and August. I surmise that many of you will take vacations soon, and complicated blocks for these two months could result in procrastination. The queen size quilt calls for two rows of Flying Geese, so you could tackle one row in July and make the other row in August.
There are three ways to make Flying Geese; you’ll find a plethora of tutorials online. My instructions call for making four geese at a time. This method conserves fabric and, with a scant 1/4″ seam allowance, yields geese of the correct measurement, 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ in our case.
You’ll find instructions for Flying Geese under the “Rows Parade BOM 2023” tab in the blog menu. Happy sewing! Please send a picture of your blocks so I can share it with blog readers: aby.quilts@gmail.com.
