Black and White and Red/Teal All Over

Happy Monday, y’all! You may remember my post of January 11, 2023 which featured a Framed Four Patch quilt sashed in red fabric. I surrounded scrappy Four Patches of four different fabrics with black and white prints strips prior to adding red sashing.

My friend, Kay, made a similar quilt, declaring it to be a fun way to use random 2 1/2″ squares and black/white prints leftover from making “Farmhouse Christmas” quilts.

Jumping on the band wagon, Rochelle crafted her own “Black and White and Red All Over” quilt. I love the various scales of black and white prints she used!

Janice emailed a picture of her rendition of the design. Since she used darker black/white frames, she opted for teal sashing to set off each block.

Sew much fun! Thanks, Rochelle and Janice for sharing pictures of your quilt tops!

Imagine other color combinations for this simple design . . . how would you “paint” it? Comment below with your ideas, please.

If you’d like instructions for the Framed Four Patch block, click on “Rows Parade BOM 2023” in the menu. Once on the page of instructions for the row quilt, scroll down until you find downloadable directions for “Framed Four Patch.” Both Rochelle and Janice made 30 blocks for their quilts. Of course, you could make more blocks for a larger quilt. If you make a similar quilt, please send a picture to aby.quilts@gmail.com.
